Hey, sorry about the delay on an up-date about the fishing.
Here we go. The walleyes are on the mid lake humps and it's been a very good bite. Lots of nice eaters and lots of slot fish being released. Eight to twenty two feet of water seems to be the best. All our local guides are jig and minnow guys, but I am selling record amounts of crawlers and leeches to the tourists. I am thinking that those walleyes are just hungry!!!!!
The northern pike fishing is still going strong. They have moved a little deeper though. Most of the fishermen are now targeting the pike in the twelve to eighteen foot range. Jigging with a large minnow is best, but trolling crank baits is working good too.
The lake trout are in the eighty to one hundred and ten foot range. Seems that one day they like it vertical and the next you had better be trolling. I am also still hearing of some great catches of jumbo perch being caught.
We are still seeing lots of you forgetting to bring your Ontario Outdoors Card. You need to bring it with or you will be doing the paperwork for another one and spending another $9.68 canadian.
Starting sometime in september, we will be one of two stores in Northwestern Ontario to bring in a terminal to introduce the automated license system. At this time, we are limited on what we know about it and how it will work. We will keep you updated about it as we learn more on how the system will work.
Other than that, you should GO FISHING!!!!!
