Well, we are finally having some winter weather here. This will really help to put some ice on the trout lakes.
As of last weekend, the fisherman had been going just about anywhere they wanted. Crow, Whitefish Bay and
the rest of the trout lakes had healed over and made access to the back lakes possible.
Trout fishing has been good for most. I have had reports of many good sized fish being returned to the lake to fight another day. There has also been lots of good eating sized trout "put on deck" too.
Over on Sabaskong Bay, the travel is great. The crappies are tightly schooled and will bite when you get on them. It might take some moving around to get on an active bunch of fish, but the average size this winter makes it all worth the effort.
There are also pails of big perch being caught. I hit a hole last sunday that you could pull them out of as fast as you could get it down. Lots of 9 - 13 inchers too!!!
There is a good early morning and evening walleye bite going on. It seems to be best in 20 to 26 feet of water. Cindy put on a CLINIC for Thatcher and I the other evening. She was greasing them out about as fast as she could get it down.
All in all, the fishing has been very good so far this winter and the best ice fishing is yet to come. Yee Haw!!!
We hope you are all having a good start to the NEW YEAR and we are looking forward to seeing you soon.
Take Care and God Bless,
Phil, Cindy and Family
